Imported in 2025, Creag Glas of Ardbhan is a bull that offers a full outcross pedigree, from a herd with huge emphasis on feet and udder quality.

Creag Glas, meaning Grey Rock, is the powerful son of the homebred stock bull, Gille Ban Rona of Ardbhan and black Fraochan of Ardbhan; a versatile bloodline with Hebridean origins that can be traced back to the Rigg fold, famous for its hardy black cattle, on both sides. This is a pedigree that is well known for producing excellent male and female stock. The Fraoch line is among the most prolific at Ardbhan, consistently producing stylish animals with superior udders and feet. This line is also noted for longevity, with females frequently breeding into their 20s.

Creag boasts an exceptional frame, is easy fleshing, and, according to his breeders, the finest beef carcass bred at Ardbhan to date. We selected him for his functionality and beef attributes. Thanks to the MacDonald family of Ardbhan for entrusting us with this bull.

The Ardbhan herd of pedigree highland cattle is based on the Isle of North Uist in the Outer Hebrides. The cattle are run in  a ‘ranch system’ where, for the most part, they need to manage themselves. This means that calving ease, good feet and good udders are the backbone of the system – and they cull to eliminate animals that do not exhibit these traits. A shorthorn bull is used over any females that do not meet their strict standard. They believe in a butchers knife over a foot trimmer or a crush to assist a calf onto the cow.
